I like a good old whodunnit movie with an ensemble cast. This one happens to be a Polish film (also known as Spadek), but you can watch it in English on Netflix. A family gathers at an large estate after the owner has been murdered to be read the will. The will stipulates that there will be a game to determine who receives a portion of the fortune. The levels are fun and typical for this type of movie, but most importantly one of the later levels is a maze they need to solve as a group ! It just so happens that the maze is dynamic with moving walls !! Here is a screenshot of the maze:

Overall the movie is ok. I liked it better than the reviews, but it is nothing to seek out unless you like this genre of movie.

I give it a 5.8/10.

Maze Comic Book Cover #79 - RUMBLE

Issue #79 in my comic book cover series is called RUMBLE and features the maze of a luchador. The background was made using starryai. Do you think this wrestler is a face or a heel ?

My comic book cover mazes can be found in 2 places:

Maze of the Week #183 - The Gateway Arch

This weeks maze was one that sat on the shelf for over 3 years. I started my maze of the Gateway Arch and abandoned it as I executed it poorly, then tried to fix it, then forgot about it to work on other things. The main problem with the maze the first time around was that the maze type did not fit the structure I was making it in. Here is a collection of mazes that I abandoned, including this one:

Why I abandoned these 10 mazes - Mistakes in Maze making

Well I finally went back and re-did the maze, and it has become my maze of the week #183.

As far as the Gateway Arch is concerned, it is a 630 ft tall monument in St. Louis, Missouri, located on the the bank of the Mississippi River. It is the tallest arch in the world. You can read all about it on Wikipedia, or watch this documentary about it’s construction:

Back to mazes. Here is the original maze that I abandoned because it was not good enough to publish or strong enough to finish.

Gateway Arch being drawn

And here is the improved and final maze that includes a new maze and much more detail of the St Louis skyline. The maze construction works much better than before, but the maze is easy enough for kids because the arch is so skinny (relatively) that I only used 3 blocks for the width making the number of choices a maze solver needs to make low.

I think you agree this is a much better illustration and maze. The maze is available to download on the homepage.

Dark Harvest 2: The Maize (2004) Movie Review

Dark Harvest 2: The Maize (2004) (IMDB)

Dark Harvest 2 movie poster.

I knew going into to this to not expect much. At the time of me watching it had an IMDB score of 1.6 and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 10%. The movie starts with some Halloween trick or treaters and some b roll footage and you immediately know the production quality is going to be a problem. But, you do get a view of a corn maze from above ! And that is where a father must go to find his two lost daughters who are stuck in the corn maze. The bad news is they are not alone in the maze which is haunted by 2 ghostly girls. The worse news is the movie might be overrated by previous watchers. Now I need to rethink my previous list as this might be the worst maze movie of all time. Do I go back and rewatch the older movies to compare them properly ? No. I’m not crazy. Probably. If I was would I know I was ?

I give it a 2/10.
