Wrath of the Titans (2012) Movie Review

Wrath of the Titans 2012 movie poster

A big budget adventure fantasy movie that did over $300M in worldwide box office. Also the sequel to Clash of the Titans which did almost $500M. Both movies feature Liam Neeson as Zeus and Ralph Fiennes as Hades, but each story focuses on the main character Perseus played by Sam Worthington.

In this sequel the gods have a problem, mankind has stopped worshipping the gods like they had in the past and they are losing their power as a result. Part of that power is holding together the walls of the underworld prison Tartarus. Eventually we have a large prison break and monsters are released on the world. Now we have some action taking place, with Perseus needing to defeat a series of monsters.

The story eventually becomes a fantasy quest to defeat the “final boss” (Kronos) and save Zeus from the Underworld. Perseus needs to make his way through a shifting labyrinth in Tartarus and eventually encounters the mythical Minotaur. The story unfolds in a typical big budget fashion. The monsters are good and the special effects are also. I didn’t; expect much from this film and that is what it delivered.

I would say 6/10. Worth seeing if you like this kind of film.

The Top Movie Maze Scenes

Sometimes my algorithm on YouTube suggests maze videos to me. OK. It does that all the time. I came across a nice maze video I thought I would share that ties into the new maze movie section of the website. It also has given me a few more movies to track down and add to this site.

This is a video from a few years ago by Watchmojo.com titled “Top 10 Maze Movies”.

To review the list:

First it should be no surprise that I have seen every movie on the list (and I have reviewed them on this site !)

Honorable mentions include: Thir13een Ghosts (2001), Wrath of the Titans (2012), Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 (1988), Tales from the Crypt (1972), and Your Highness (2011)

Mis 10 Laberintos Autológicos de Palabras

Me gusta mucho este Laberinto de Globos que parece una colección de globos multicolores. En realidad son 6 laberintos de letras individuales diferentes.

You Should Have Left (2020) Movie Review

Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried star in this horror thriller from Blumhouse about a couple that goes on vacation to the Welsh countryside to work on their relationship. They have a young daughter and as the story unfolds we learn about the couples relationship and past before they are married. The couple has a large age difference and this makes the husband suspicious of his wife of cheating on him because she always seems to be engaged with her phone instead of him.

Hovering over the story of the relationship is the house. Large, mysterious, and the home to that seems to defy physics with its unending hallways. And that is where the maze movie part comes in. This house feels like a maze multiple times during the movie, including in two long sequences. Something is off about the house, or is that just in their heads ?

With an ending you will see coming from a mile away, even if you don’t quite understand some of the machinations that took you there in the last part of the movie. I give it a 5.5/10.
