Zootopia 2 (2025) IMDB
I was on the long flight back from my Winter trip and I had 8.5 hours to deal with on the first leg of my flights. That meant catching up on recent movies that I had no yet seen to pass the time. I was happy to see Zootopia 2 as one of the selections. I was a big fan of the first movie and was glad that it got a sequel. Our buddy animal cops are at it again, trying to solve a mystery about their city. Along the way we are introduced to a new character Gary De’ Snake that the story revolves around. Snakes, Lynxes and how the animal city came to be. That’s what the movie is about.
Well right towards the end of the movie we get an action sequence that includes a chase scene in a hedge maze. Our furry cops decide the easiest way to navigate a hedge maze is with a construction vehicle (I do not support the destruction of mazes). The sequence pays homage to Kubrick and the scenes in The Shining. It is very well done. You also get some Godfather and Silence of the Lambs references that the kids won’t get but work well.
The movie is fun and you will enjoy it, just not as much as the first one.
I give it a 6.5/7.
