The Evil Within (2017) IMDB
This is the story of a mentally handicapped young man who has vivid dreams. Sometimes even dreams within dreams in a Nightmare on Elm Street type way. While in a dream the young man finds himself in a mirror maze where he encounters an evil man. Eventually the dreams lead to a second version of himself he sees in the mirrors around his house while awake. The doppelganger and the evil man ask him to do terrible things. So this horror movie has elements of the wonderful movie Us.
As the story unfolds we get the backstory of the young man and his brother intertwined with mysterious happenings in the city. The familiar people the brothers know in the city seem to be disappearing. It’s ok. While the movie borrows elements from other excellent horror stories this one mostly misses the mark. No need to watch this one.
I give it a 5.2/10.
