Weekly Hard Maze #4

Each Saturday I post a new hard maze with all of them sitting in the Hard Maze Archive. I will try to post a variety of maze types to keep things interesting.

Weekly Hard Maze #4 - Mega Dot Maze

This is a maze I made from scratch and it is a Dot Maze. The large size maze it more difficult than most mazes. Also the connections between the dots are small and it is hard to see dead ends. Solution will be in the archive. Download is below. If you like this type of maze I have a section of dot mazes on the site.

If you solved that maze quickly and want to try some of my archival hard mazes, these posts should do the trick:

One Maze - Many designs - experiment #3

This is a continuation of of maze design experiments. Read about it in post #1, One Maze - Many designs, then The first 5 experiments and so on, or just enjoy the ride.

The original maze:

Simple Maze

I used Inkscape for these 5 options to redesign it. All of them use overlays to change the walls of the maze.

  • The first is a floral overlay.

  • The next is a geometric overlay. I had many options for this one.

  • The 3rd overlay is made from red polka dots.

  • The fourth overlay uses snowflakes. While I thickened the lines for each other version to show more of the overlay, I used regular width here….and would obviously prefer the wider version.

  • The fifth overlay uses wood patterns.

I would say every version is interesting. I am not sure when I would use this overlay in the future, but before doing this project I did not know they existed or how they work. Hopefully I find the perfect use and remember this experiment for bearing fruit !

Sports Mazes - A Collection of my 13 Favorite Sports Mazes

Today I am going to feature another Collection of mazes, most of which are not available anywhere else on the website. I tried to make many of these in black and white so they double as a maze and a coloring page ! I hope you enjoy these Sports mazes.

My 13 Favorite Sports Mazes

I feel like the best place to start is with Football Mazes. It’s my favorite sport. The first is a black and white football maze. The second is a football helmet maze that can be solved and then decorated.

Solve this and then decorate the helmet.

BONUS: This one is not for kids, but I thought I would promote some of my maze art. This is the black and white version of my Pro Football HOF maze.

And of course how about a Baseball Maze or maybe it is a Softball Maze because that is all a matter of perspective.

Let’s go inside for a different kind of sport. How about this Bowling Ball Maze. When I look at it I can hear the sounds of pins being scattered. OVER THE LINE.

Ok, ok, technically this is not a racing bike, but it is a nice Bike Maze. Without printing it out it looks like a bike and not a maze which might mean we have some maze art on our screens.

Now the sport that I think most people love to play and love to hate (at least I do) is golf. Here is a Golf Ball Maze made in a connected dots construction which is perfect for it. Below it I have an example of my Golf Game Maze which is a timed maze game where your score is based on how fast you solve it. To get all 9 of these golf game mazes check out this golf maze section.

Since this blog post was written, I have transitioned the website to maze art. Check them out on my home page - I think you will like what you find ! (maybe not - but the click is free !)

Celebrate Chinese New Year with a New Maze Book !

I have made over 100 comic book style mazes on this site and now that I have a catalog I thought it would be fun to repurpose some of them into new projects. This 13 page maze comic book pulls together many previous mazes (and some new) onto new comic comic book covers to celebrate Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival. It is coming up soon, so I am launching this book a bit early. To learn about the customs and festivities I suggest this Wikipedia entry.

You may need to use Google Lens because the covers I made this time are not in English ! (In fact I suggest you do that for fun). Can you find any hidden surprises ?

The book is free to download and is located in the free printable book section. I hope you enjoy it !
