One Maze - Many designs

I wanted to experiment with maze design by trying a large variety of the tools available to see what I could make. This came to mind because I updated my Inkscape software and had to re-learn the layout I was used to. Every few months I find something that I wish I had known about before, so now I’m clicking on just about everything to see what it does.

So I start this week with a basic standard maze in black and white. My goal is to see how all the tools I find can transform it. Hopefully I find something useful ! Here is our starting point (maze zero) which I made in Inkscape:

Simple Maze

Every Friday I will update this maze with the experiments I did for the week. We will see what happens and hopefully learn a lot. Or not.

Introducing the Air Land Sea and Space collection books

I spent the second half of 2025 making mazes of vehicles of all types. Some of them were the maze of the week and I made so many extra that I added them in when I could during the week. In total I made of 47 mazes. I hope you enjoyed them. Each is available for download in the vehicle maze section of the site.

Today I announce that I have pulled together 40 of the mazes into 2 new books. 7 vehicle mazes are not included (they are vertical mazes and the book is horizontal). There are 2 versions of the book. The first version is a full color maze book and includes any backgrounds I used (some were made with AI). The second version has the same 40 mazes but is in black and white. I removed backgrounds and skies, etc. This version doubles as a coloring book. If you are going to print in black and white anyway this version will save some ink ! Here are the 2 covers of the book:

The downloads for half of the mazes changed a bit from what is available on the site, only because I standardized all pages to be the same size.

Let’s show a few examples of mazes and how they look in each version:

So, maybe you agree with me - I think the mazes look better in color, but I would prefer to print them in black and white and color them. If I was using a Kindle Scribe or similar tablet I might download the color version.

Either way - this book is free to download in the free printable section of the site. Happy Mazing !
