Maze Comic Book Cover #83 - Serpentine

Issue #83 in my comic book cover series is called Serpentine and features the maze of a naga. Naga’s can be found on Hindu and Buddhist temples. This particular one is very much a serpent that looks very dragon-like. This is the 1st of a 4 issue arch of mythical creatures. I hope you enjoy them !

Maze of the Week #187 - Beach Scene Maze

This Beach Scene Maze was made off of a picture provided to me from a client. I made it in black and white and the size they requested. It can double as a coloring page. I decided to do some coloring myself to see how my version would come out. Of course I also added a few other enhancements I thought would improve the maze !

Today I present Maze of the Week #187 -a Beach Scene Maze. The original maze used different styles for the water, beach, jungles and terrain. I think it works. The style is different than other mazes I have made, but I think it works.

Here are the enhancements I made to improve the maze:

1. Added Color - I added color throughout the maze. The main wooded area that takes up the right side is a bit brighter than I wanted, but the true color makes the maze hard to see.

2. Added Texture - The beach, the mountains in the background and the rocky shoreline all got a bit of texture added to enhance their look.

3. White Start - Now that the start of the maze is on a dark background I changed the Start from black to white (Goal remains in black).

4. Resized - The original maze was made for a 9x7 sized book, but I reformatted the color version toa standard size sheet of paper. This reduced the border size a bit.

I like them both. Maze downloads of the color version are available on the homepage.

Found a maze in the library

On one of my tri-weekly trips to the library I noticed a flyer celebrating the 100th anniversary of the main branch of the Cleveland Library. The front just so happened to have a hand drawn maze of the # 100 with the inside and back featuring other puzzles.

Cleveland Library 100 years Maze

If you are ever in the area it is a wonderful building in the downtown and worth a visit. Popular for wedding photos with wonderful marble stairs and beautiful ceilings. If you are visiting Cleveland here are the big 5 places to stop by:

  • The Arcade is across the street from the library. Great photo op.

  • The Rock and Roll HOF (my maze of it)

  • Our world renowned orchestra (that plays at Severance Hall)

  • The Cleveland Museum of Art (next to Severance Hall)

  • The West Side Market

Since I live here 6 months of the year I have many mazes of the city: 6 Stunning Pieces of Maze Art showing Cleveland, Ohio

Vintage Sign Maze - Found and Posted

I make mazes just about every day. I set out with a rough plan and then sometimes change directions before I publish things. A few years ago I made a lot of sign mazes. I like the way vintage signs look. They are colorful and you can find some cool shapes. Unfortunately, most of these mazes are not very popular on the site. The best sign mazes are of the Sit & Spin Laundromat and one that is very popular on Pinterest, the Chicago Theatre Sign.

Today, I bring you a sign I made 2 years ago that never made it into the weekly maze schedule, the fictional Minotaur Motel Sign Maze, based off of a sign I found on the web. It was not quite good enough to publish and I lost it in my many folders of mazes. Well, I found it recently and thought I might as well publish it. I made a few minor changes to improve it - starryai was used to make a roadside hotel background and I changed the color of the START/GOAL so it could be read more easily.

Also, I have a YouTube channel that shows me making mazes that is not very popular, so I thought I would do a version here showing the process of the initial maze being made in 15 steps.

And now, the final maze with the changes ! The roadside motel looks properly dingy.
