Why visit a Labyrinth ?
Labyrinths are ancient and mysterious symbols that have been used for centuries for meditation, contemplation, and spiritual renewal. They are also a lot of fun to explore! If you're looking for a unique and challenging experience, walk a labyrinth with intention - it often leads to self-discovery. Personally, I like to walk labyrinths between dawn and sunrise or at sunset until dusk, but any time of day works. You may not realize it, but there is probably a labyrinth near where you live. 1. Mercer University Interfaith Prayer Garden Labyrinth
This 11 Circuit Medieval Labyrinth is located in the Interfaith Prayer Garden. You can find many articles about this labyrinth, like this article or even this article, that speak to it’s purpose of bringing different religions together.

2. St. Thomas Episcopal Church Labyrinth
The message in this video is dated, the labyrinth is not !
A Chartres replica labyrinth with a great webpage that states “The outdoor labyrinth is located in the natural area on the left side of the drive at 2100 Hilton Avenue that leads into the church. The area is within a residential neighborhood. The labyrinth is wheelchair accessible with a paved path to the site. In the natural area closer to the church is a Peace and Pet Memorial Garden that you may also visit.” The page also includes a downloadable Labyrinth Guide pdf.

A labyrinth made of rocks that has it’s own webpage. The page includes suggestions for your walk and discusses the 3 movements: Releasing, Receiving, Returning.

This 8 circuit medieval labyrinth is located between the sanctuary and the chapel. Includes a bench on the outside.

8. Franklin's Kite Labyrinth

This labyrinth was shaped like a kite until March 2022 when it was redone into a Spiral shape. The labyrinth is off the trail along the river at the address listed below. The labyrinth is 60 yards into the trail on the left side. Originally a tribute to Benjamin Franklin (thus the previous kite shape). I used the wayback machine to learn about the site: “The labyrinth, designed by local artists R.L. Hughey and Debbie McNeil, is created in the shape of a kite to honor Franklin’s namesake, Benjamin Franklin, and his electrical experiments. In addition to the large meditative walk, the labyrinth features accent pieces and benches of mosaic art work. The labyrinth was developed in conjunction with the community’s long-term plans to make the River Walk an attraction to visitors, complete with an art walk and garden of native plants. The goal of the project has been to unify our community through art, increase art appreciation, teach a new art medium, provide passive recreation and showcase the natural resources of Franklin’s River Walk?

5 TIPS FOR VISITING A LABYRINTH
Set an intention for your walk so you can walk with purpose. It could be prayer, reflection, meditation, contemplation, or openness.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as you will be doing a lot of walking.
Bring water with you, especially if you are visiting on a hot day.
Take your time and enjoy the experience. There is no need to rush through a labyrinth.
Be respectful of other visitors. This includes not making noise and being respectful if walking with other people.

I am a maze artist and have made a few mazes of places in Georgia:
I had the opportunity to visit Singapore recently and visit my friend who lives there. I came away very impressed with the city. If you have a chance to visit the country, by all means take it. During my trip I took a mini trip to the edge of town to visit a labyrinth ! Here is what I found:
Trip #1 - The Tampines Maze Garden

How to get there: Take the MRT to the Tampines Stop which is served by both the East-West Green Line (stop EW2) or the Downtown Blue Line (stop DT32). When you get off the train check the locality map which I have added the Maze Garden to (in red and blue). Depending on which train you take, your exit and street will change. Either trains exit is a quick 10 minute walk to the corner of Tampines Avenue 4 and 5.

Once there you will walk up a few steps and immediately see the labyrinth in front of you. As you can see below it is surrounded by blue benches. This circular labyrinth has pathways of concrete with walls made from grass and is surrounded by bricks.
The Tampines Maze Garden Labyrinth
The odd thing is it is not really a labyrinth - the pathways on every other ring do not have turnback’s - so you can actually choose the direction you move in. Here is a close-up to show you. Notice above the first normal turnback the anomaly:
What I did not expect to find at the location were 2 hedge mazes, one on each side of the labyrinth running parallel to the avenues. Here are 2 pics of each.
Overall it was a nice little trip. I enjoyed the hedge maze even though it was not difficult for an adult with short hedges !
I thought my maze visits were over until I was sightseeing downtown and stumbled upon another Maze !
Trip #2 - The Youth Olympic Park

I was checking out the Helix Bridge (a must see with great views of the Bay) when I came across the Youth Olympic Park. Here you will find wide pathways separated by hedges and statues, and you guessed it, you are in a maze ! The coolest part is it was designed by two 11 year-olds in a contest as told by this plaque in the park:
Here a some photos of the maze, one from inside it, and the other from above on the pathway leading to the Helix bridge.
And from this spot you are just a few steps from the Helix Bridge and some wonderful views. I could post 20 pictures here but I’ll just do 1 to give you a taste of the spot, the initial view you’ll see as you walk up (and I think it gets better!).
So if you are a maze or labyrinth enthusiast and you are in Singapore, you have options for a few little adventures !
