Maze of the Week #59 - Walking street in Queretaro, Mexico

Maze of the week #59 takes us to my Winter home of Queretaro, Mexico. If you have never visited, the city center has many walking streets, including this one. I was inspired to take a picture and make it into a maze and video! I took a picture from in front of the Bistrot Chez Julien facing up the walking street called Av. Prol. Luis Pasteur.

If you have 17 minutes and want to learn about my city:

The Photo: Take my word for it, the colors are more vibrant in person !

The Maze: Final full color version. I changed the street tiles to make the maze easier.

Maze of the Week #58 - The Gherkin

Maze of the week #58 takes us to London, England with this maze of The Gherkin building. I made a few different versions of this maze as you’ll see below. If you want to visit the building at 30 St Mary Axe you can check out their the Gherkin website. Or check out this cool article featuring 28 facts about the building.

Take 2 minutes to watch a video about the building:

The Mazes: I prefer the full color skinny version below that highlights the height and form of the building.

Version 2: The black and white “wide” version which has a different maze/solution than the color version !

Maze of the Week #57 - NYC Subway Map Maze

Maze of the week #57 was originally done for a charity event. One print of it exists. I made it in 2013 and recently found it. I thought it had been lost so it was a good day. The maze is of the NYC Subway Map. Not the current one with the new upper west side extension, but the old school version. I built a maze on top of it using Microsoft Paint, creating one pixel at a time (it took several months to create). Then I came up with rules on how to ride the subway to move around. And to top it all off, because of the large size it is actually 10 mazes in one ! You can see all the maze challenges in the top right corner.

There are many great videos about the subway, but why not check out this one :

Rather than include a photo of the map system…check out the current one here.

The Maze: It is sized at 100% of a subway map (so very large). The 10 mazes are listed in the top right (Service Notes) along with the rules. Unfortunately, I never made the answer key :(

Maze of the Week #56 - Matrimandir at Auroville Maze

Maze of the week #56 takes us to the other side of India, in Auroville, Tamil Nadu and features the Matrimandir building. It took almost 40 years to be built and was completed in 2008. It is the main building in the complex for Integral Yoga practitioners. It features a dome covered in golden colored discs. You can read more about it on the Wikipedia Page.

Check out a video of the building from the visitor center YouTube page:

The Maze: I found the colors difficult to match but went with a full color version to highlight the golden discs. In different lights the discs take on different shades.
