The 10 best places to find free printable mazes

One of the larger searches made for mazes is “free printable mazes for kids”. Knowing this, and having a maze website myself I wanted to see what was available, assess the competition and see what was offered. By doing this I hope to be able to improve what mazes I offer for download, and since I am evaluating the sites anyway I thought I would write a post summarizing them for you.

The 10 best websites where you can find free printable mazes:

I have placed the websites in order of the number of downloadable mazes available:

  • Yo Free Samples - Known for free samples, deals from large retailers, and just about anything that fits after the word free… smartphone apps, magazines, courses and sweepstakes. But there is also a Printable Maze section of the website that has over 1000 maze books available and 21K mazes in 6 difficulty categories. Mazes all appear to be black and white shapes.

  • Krazy Dad - A site dedicated to printables of puzzles and games like Sudoku, Suguro, Kakuro and Bridges. If you like math type puzzles this is the site for you. The most popular puzzles are available to play online so you don’t have to print ! But we are here to discuss the maze portion of the website. What I really like about the site is that the mazes are split into 5 sections by age group: Easy (Ages 4-6), Intermediate (Ages 6-8), Challenging (Ages 7-9), Tough Mazes (Ages 9-12+) and Super Tough (all Ages). Each group has a list of 50 books available for download, 250 books in total ! Files are pdfs and answers are available on the website if you get stuck ! Obviously I did not download every book, but they appear to be 20 pages each and full of “shape'“ mazes of many different types. This means there are 1000 mazes per level available!

  • Do You Maze - This website. I have 21 free themed downloadable maze books that are almost all in color and contain 730 different mazes (plus there are some Spanish language books/mazes featuring 193 mazes). Because they are printable I’m not sure if the color is a positive or negative - maybe a bit of both. As far as what I specialize in, that would be maze art. Mazes for adults of medium to hard difficulty that you would feel good hanging on your wall as artwork. But many of them need to be printed on very large pieces of paper. All mazes are pdfs and have downloadable solutions. Check out the home page for the best mazes and the links to download. There are 100+ more mazes available. Here are some maze art examples:

  • Printable Mazes - Features their 1 most popular mazes on the site. At the time of this writing has 480 mazes available for download for free, or you can pay $9.00 for one of 5 different themed books of 250 mazes. Mazes range from pictures of animals/objects for young children to difficult mazes in a variety of shapes.

  • Muse Printables - A really fun site that features printable borders, coloring pages, signs, and writing templates on their home page. But they have even more items available including their maze printables. At the time of this writing they have 466 different mazes available in 23 different categories, including Animals, Christmas, Food and Sport mazes. They mazes are targeted to children and are easy to solve. Mazes are pdf format and the solutions are available.

  • Superstar Worksheets - A site for teachers with free downloads of many kinds. The Maze section features themed mazes for kids, including Holiday Mazes (Thanksgiving 9, Christmas 15, Easter 12, Patriotic 5, St Patrick’s Day 9, Valentine’s Day 9, Groundhog’s Day 5, New Year’s Day 5), Seasonal Mazes (Winter 13, Spring 4, Summer 4, Fall 9) Alphabet (Letters 26, Handwriting 9), Numbers (11), US State mazes (50), Multiplication Mazes (6), Morning Work Mazes (10). Most interesting to me were the multiplication mazes where students solve a math problem which tells them which pathway they need to take in the maze. They also have a 216 page book called Maze Writer available that mixes mazes with a daily handwriting improvement program. Total mazes (non -book) is approximately 211 (some mazes are duplicated in different sections).

  • My Home School Math - Printables for preschool through grade school children. Has a large menu where you can find just about everything you could think of. The maze section with mazes labeled easy to hard. Each maze has a theme like get the bird back to it’s nest, the horse to the barn, or the bear to the honey, etc. Each maze is in color and downloads as a pdf. Solutions are not given. I like that they have some weaving mazes included, one of my favorite types of mazes ! Total mazes: 53.

  • Mazes to Print - Features 4 types of traditional mazes to print based on the challenge level you want - Easy, Medium, Hard and Mega Mazes. After you click on a difficulty level you can then choose which of the 7 shapes of maze you want to solve (Mega has 3 options, for 24 total options). There is a button labeled click on maze to print which formats the maze to print. There do not appear to be solutions to the mazes available. The 5th section is of word mazes (25 in total) where you can select form pre-made mazed words like ‘Love’, ‘Peace’ and ‘Joy’. The 6th section had the potential to be my favorite, Create Your Own maze, however despite using 3 different browsers I could not get the mazes to load, so in total there are 49 mazes to download.

  • Math is Fun - It should not surprise you that this site is dedicated to mathematics and appears to be targeted at kids (and their teachers). The index is very helpfully broken into 4 age groups so you are looking for the right level of activities for your kids. The maze section of the site contains 19 different options of mazes to choose from. The mazes can be solved by using your arrow keys or by clicking and dragging with a mouse, or by hitting the print button and using the writing utensil of your choice on paper. Because these were made digitally they are in color and look very cool and artsy. The site also features non-printable maze games like this 3D maze run and this rolling ball maze which I find addictive !

  • Printable Paradise - The website features dozens of different printables, including mazes. The maze section features 9 different mazes, each downloadable as pdf’s with each also including the solution.
