A 4,665 seat theater located in Atlanta, Georgia that is absolutely beautiful. The Fox Theatre opened on Christmas Day in 1929 and has been entertaining guests ever since. It hosts all types of events, plays, concerts, comedy, and shows. You can read more about the history on their website.

If you are in Peoria, Illinois you probably stop by Emo’s Dairy Mart Shop. According to a story I found, the clown sign went up in 1963 to grab customers attention. The clown also seems to be a marker for travelers who need directions !

Well, it is a laundromat that is self service and open 24/7 just like all the best laundries are. It has free wi-fi which is one thing I love while I wait for my clothes to dry. Located at 737 N Leverett Ave Fayetteville, AR 72701. Here is its Facebook page where you can watch some videos.

Dolles Candyland was located at the corner of Rehoboth Avenue and the Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware since 1927, one year after it was established, but was moved in December of 2021. You can read about the history of the company on the Dolles website.

Nampa Rollerdrome located in Nampa, Idaho opened in 1948. Browsing their website made me want to plan party, but of course what I really like is the colorful vintage sign out front which I made into a maze.

This particular sign comes to us from the First Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a historically important church, and it’s congregation was first organized in 1845. I suggest you read about it’s history on it’s Wikipedia page, or on this website dedicated to black history.

The Spillway Lanes sign in Springfield, Illinois. Or maybe I should more accurately say, the former bowling alley and former sign because when I look for information I can find the address….and there is no bowling alley or sign there anymore. The alley closed in 2007 and the sign came down sometime in the early 2010’s. But I found the sign online and loved it, so I made the maze anyway !

This particular sign went up in 1959…and oddly enough sits outside the city limits in Paradise. Or is that actually NOT noteworthy… shouldn’t the sign be at the border of the city limits and possibly never actually in the city ? Apparently this one is not at the border. It has moved around many times, and switched names, but the Agora has been a part of Cleveland, Ohio since 1913. The building currently known as the Agora first opened on March 31, 1913. If you are a fan of Bruce Springsteen and the E street band, in 2014 they released a live album from their 1978 concert there.

Playhouse Square is the largest performing arts center in the United States outside of New York City. The district was originally built in the 1920’s and opened in February 1921. You can learn about the history of the zone on the Playhouse Square districts website. It also features the largest outdoor chandelier in the world !

Originally opened the day after Christmas in 1927 as a movie theater, this historic theater was added to Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 15th, 1977. It includes a theater pipe organ nicknamed “Big Bertha” with 32 sets of pipes. They seem to have a busy schedule that you can find on their official website here.
