I’ve found that the most common request for name mazes comes from teachers and aunts. I used to actively add new names to fill in gaps of popular names around the world to be more global (169 different countries visited this site last year), but I had stopped to focus on other projects. As far as having global names - I think I have done an ok job. Just look through the names on the Name Maze Page and you should see ethnic names you have never heard of - no matter your own ethnicity ! There were less than 2000 names on the site out of almost 30 million different names in the world yet I have a good percentage of the world covered (and a very high percent of the US since those name lists are easy to find). Any time I get a new request for a name or meet someone new I always look up the name to see what it means. Then I forget that information 3 seconds later. What I don’t forget is to make their name into a maze.
I started the year with 1867 name mazes and currently have 2001, so this list should include 134 names. I found a new website that includes data from countries I couldn’t find before (i.e. Myanmar) and I continue to research for new names when I have time. Almost all of the new mazes are international and popular in the country they come from.
When I make a list there are always a few names I am surprised I never had made before. In this list, Alec, Uma, Rey and Sergei come to mind.
And the most unfortunate name is easily Dung which over 1 million people are named in Vietnam ! The most interesting is A which is found in India.
