I just finished my second section of maze updates and I’ll tell you a bit about what I did and you can expect to see. I previously updated the Animal Maze section of the site which you can read about in this blog post. Food Mazes are now also updated on the site. It was one of the largest sections on the site with 69 mazes but also one of my first sections and in need of some updating. Here is what I did:
Reorganized by difficulty level
Before this was a large scrolling page with each maze shown and you clicked on the maze to download a pdf of it (no button). Now they are in easy, medium and difficult sections in a gallery format. This should make the page faster to load. Downloads are available by clicking under the gallery.
Re-made many mazes to be easier
I took some of the existing mazes and made them more kid friendly. In many cases both versions are on the site now. Here is an example of a maze I made in an easier version while keeping the hard version also :
I made adjustments to improve old mazes
Larger pathways, changes to the start and goal, filling more of the page, changing sizing. Basically I changed anything that I thought would improve the maze when printed or solved on the screen. Here is an example of a cheeseburger maze with the before and after:
I removed some old artwork I didn’t like
I removed some of the old mazes I didn’t like. I do not think they will be missed, but google image search may end up disagreeing on a few. I ended up with 73 mazes in the new format vs. 69 in the old, so more mazes although some are of the same food illustration with different mazes.
I added a food maze booklet
I picked out 14 food mazes, 8 easy and 6 medium difficulty and formatted them into a booklet to download and print. I assume nobody wants 70+ mazes, so I settled on 14. Enjoy !
