In Part 1 of this series I exclusively used StarryAI to create 15 different maze and labyrinth image prompts in 2023 and then I repeated it in 2026 for comparison. Today, in Part 2 I will use 5 other AI text to image generators to do the same, updating a variety of interesting images of mazes and labyrinths I made in 2023 with new 2026 versions. What I learned using AI to make maze art

AI Image Generator - A labyrinth designed by Piet Mondrian in his traditional bright red bright yellow and bright blue colors
2023: Not quite what I was looking for, but I like the way it came out anyway.
2026: This was not an improvement. The colorations were better in 2023.
Craiyon - Fantasy labyrinth by MC Escher
2023: A tried and true prompt I like to use for labyrinths, MC Escher. Not what I expected but nice to look at anyway.
2026: Outstanding ! This is what I was looking for when I entered the prompt. Very cool.
Craiyon - A maze made of pipes
2023: I love pipe mazes. I love to make them and have considered making a full book of 100 of them for Amazon. Maybe someday. Until then I get to create them here. Interesting that the pipes are green.
2026: That looks like a wicked pipe maze. Industrial, and complicated.
Craiyon - A maze made of numbers and letters from many different alphabets
2023: The output looks like letters from an Asian alphabet or two, possibly Korean...maybe a speaker of Korean sees something interesting here ? Either way, this concept of making walls out of letters is one that could be cool. Also a hidden message maze would be cool.
2026: An interesting spin on the prompt. I wonder if the directions are hidden in the walls of the maze. Maybe you wear 3D glasses and you can see arrows on the wall.
Dream by Wombo - a maze inside a maze inside a maze spectral style
2023: I wonder about the building or tent (what is it?) in the background. What could be in there that needs just a large labyrinth to protect it ?
2026: I prefer this one even if it is just a huge maze.

2023: When you find a prompt that works, tweak it a bit and keep going. I wanted this to be more steam-punky if that makes sense to you and less like a painting. I think with some work this prompt could be epic.
2026: This was a huge miss. Not steampunk. Weird color palette on the side. Roman columns.
Dream by Wombo - a maze inside a maze inside a maze surreal style
2023: 3 in a row and the best of the 3. That labyrinth goes on for miles and miles into the landscape.
2026: A version of this could be a movie poster.

2023: At first I thought there were 3 labyrinths but this is designed as 1. This is on the outskirts of the city in the background on the right. Imagine this as the main plaza in a city.
2026: Nope. If I had asked for Jack the Ripper walking in the streets, maybe.
StableDiffusion - a fantasy maze at sunset overlooking the horizon
2023: This looks like it might be a real hedge maze but placed near a wat in Asia. I think this could be made into something great with some adjustments !
2026: Maybe the best labyrinth on the page. Excellent generation. Nice details on the stone walls of the labyrinth. Great background.
StableDiffusion - A maze in the city of Gotham, highly detailed
2023: If this was an actual maze with that amount of detail it would be epic. As much as I want to take this and make it myself, this looks like something that would take a significant amount of time.
2026: I just want to mention that I did not ask for a character in the center. I actually think this image would be improved without him. Cool city labyrinth.
StableDiffusion - Pablo Picasso hedge maze
2023: Full disclosure I have tried this prompt many times with many sites and they usually lead to disappointment. This is the best output.
2026: Huge miss on the Pablo Picasso aspect of the prompt. Really nice hedge maze.
ToolBaz - a large labyrinth in a valley carved into the stone with a tower in the center, fantasy painting style
2023: I just like it. It looks like a stone maze covered in some moss. possibly with some trees spread around throughout.
2026: ToolBaz no longer has free generations so I used Gemini which destroyed ToolBaz and shows why I tend to use Gemini a lot for AI text to image generation !

2023: If I ever open a maze museum I want this to be the ceiling.
2026: Gemini crushed this one again !

2023: ToolBaz has some suggestions based on the prompts you write and these are a few that came up based on mine, made by them, all excellent. This is one of the great features of the site.
In general the new images from 2026 are improved, with some exceptions.
