US Lightship Overfalls LV - 188 Maze
Currently a museum ship located in Lewes, Delaware this ship sailed from 1938 until its decommission in 1972. During those working years you would have seen it working off the coasts of Connecticut and Massachusetts. It is a National Historic Landmark and on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. You can read all about the ship on wikipedia, or plan a trip to visit on their website. You can find the boat on Google Maps, and here is a map pin if you are interested !
You can see some nice footage of the ship in this video:
The Maze: This maze was originally made as an on line construction but I did not like it enough to post it here, so I re-imagined it and revised it until I came to this final version. You can read the case study about the changes and see the before and after if you are interested in maze design. I spent a lot of time making the grass look real on the shore (and that makes for a larger file). This is a classic case of me drawing a subject and then realizing that making a maze in it that looks cool will be difficult.
