Maze of the Week #29 - Thread City Crossing Maze

Maze #29 features the Thread City Crossing in Willimantic, Connecticut. While some bridges can be boring, and most are, but this particular bridge connecting highways 32 and 66 features 4 bronze statues of frogs sitting on spools of thread. And you are probably thinking, huh ? Why on earth is there a frog on a spool of thread? Well it has to do with The Great Bullfrog Battle and a local cotton mill. Read the story on this atlas obscura page.

And if you want to go long form just on the frog battle, this Wikipedia entry works.

Who wants to watch some drone footage of the bridge ?

Let’s start with a photo of one of the bridge statues:

Maze of the Week #27 Lincoln Memorial Maze

Maze of the week #8 was a maze of Abraham Lincoln from the Lincoln Memorial for President’s Day. Today we return to the Lincoln Memorial to celebrate Independence Day (Happy Birthday to the USA !) with Maze of the Week #27. This is a large scale maze and is best printed on the largest piece of paper you can find. I used a draw and cut construction.

Some information about the Lincoln Memorial

Read the link above or you can check out this 7 minute video about the Lincoln Memorial.

Let’s take a look at the building before looking at the maze.

The Maze:

You will need to print this maze to solve it, and preferably on large paper (tabloid or poster size). Most of the maze is solved moving between the large marble stones.

Maze of the Week #26 - Mesa Verde National Park Cliff Palace Maze

We return to a landscape maze of sorts this week, featuring the Cliff Dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park in Cortez, Colorado, also known as the Cliff Palace. This is our 2nd maze from Colorado after the Blue Mustang from Denver Airport. The maze is a draw and cut construction, with the natural shape of the dwellings lending themselves to a maze. I would also mention that this maze is more difficult than many I have made, so if attempt it, good luck ! I made only 1 version of this maze. It is featured this week because it was established as a National Park on June 29, 1906.

Some information about Mesa Verde National Park

It is the largest archeological preserve in the United States and features hundreds of cliff dwellings. In addition to being a National Park it is also a World Heritage Site. You can read about the portion of the park I mazed, Cliff Palace, here. You can find many videos on the park but this is my favorite.

The maze:

In color. The spacing of the pathways in the maze is very narrow. Because it is a landscape I also went with a full page maze where the landscape continues off the page in all directions.
